# Welcome to O

> What Sumbios O is, what is on the screen, and what to do in your first hour.

export const Annotated = ({src, alt, caption, markers = [], size}) => <figure className={"ann not-prose" + (size === "sm" ? " ann-sm" : "")}>
    <div className="ann-frame">
      <img src={src} alt={alt} className="ann-img" />
      {markers.map(m => <span key={m.n} className="ann-dot" style={{
  left: m.x + "%",
  top: m.y + "%"
}} aria-hidden="true">
          {m.n}
        </span>)}
    </div>
    {caption ? <figcaption className="ann-cap">{caption}</figcaption> : null}
  </figure>;

Sumbios O is an executive assistant for your whole network. It remembers the people you know, what you know about them and how you are connected, so you can ask about your network instead of searching through it. O prepares you; you decide what to do.

## When you would use it

Whenever a person matters to what you are doing next: a meeting, an introduction, a hire, a deal, a fundraise. You ask O who is involved, what has changed and who can help, and you walk in prepared.

## O in one screen

Every page has the same frame: the sidebar on the left, the top bar across the top, and the page itself in the middle. Here it is on **Home**.

<Annotated src="/images/getting-started/welcome-shell.png" alt="O with the sidebar on the left, the top bar with search and icons, and Home with the Ask O message box" caption="O on Home" size="sm" markers={[{"n":1,"x":15.11,"y":5.86},{"n":2,"x":15.28,"y":11.56},{"n":3,"x":15.28,"y":15.56},{"n":4,"x":15.28,"y":19.56},{"n":5,"x":15.28,"y":23.56},{"n":6,"x":15.28,"y":27.56},{"n":7,"x":15.28,"y":31.56},{"n":8,"x":15.28,"y":35.56},{"n":9,"x":12.45,"y":84.44},{"n":10,"x":75.31,"y":8.22},{"n":11,"x":84.6,"y":8.22}]} />

On any page other than Home, the top bar also has **Open Ask O**, so you can ask without leaving the page.

## Your first hour

<Steps>
  <Step title="Bring your network in">
    Install the O browser extension and import your LinkedIn connections. In Settings → [Connections](/settings/connections), connect Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or WhatsApp. See [Integrations](/reference/integrations) for what each one brings in.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tell O what you are working on">
    In Settings → [Goals](/settings/goals), choose what you want help with and describe your current focus. O uses it to shape its answers.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask your first question">
    On **Home**, ask about a real meeting or a person you need to reach. Not sure what to ask? Start from [the Ask O menu](/use-cases/index).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add what you know">
    Write a note about someone you met this week, or use **Add context** on [Network Health](/insights/network-health). On your phone, [Field Mode](/getting-started/field-mode) lets you dictate or type rough notes and save them.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share with someone you trust">
    Add a co-founder or a close colleague as a [friend](/network-and-circles/friends-and-sharing), and choose what each of you can see.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What O does behind it

* **It remembers what you connect.** O works only with the people, sources and notes you bring in. The more context it has, the better it can help.
* **It prepares; you decide.** O answers in the app. It never sends a message, posts or contacts anyone in your name.
* **You control sharing.** Nothing about your network is shared with a friend until you turn it on, one area at a time.
* **It can be wrong.** Check important facts before you rely on them.

<Note>
  **Availability.** What you see depends on your plan, your access and the sources you have connected. Some pages and features are not available on every plan.
